Overview

Operation Safety Net was formed in 1992 by Dr. Jim Withers, an internal medicine physician who began providing medical care to Pittsburgh’s homeless population.

Goals

To support the goal of Operation Safety Net to help the homeless by providing sandwiches for distribution during its full-time street medicine program.

How to Get Involved

Operation Safety Net at Wallace is a group of volunteers who are divided into teams of 4 or 5 and gather on the second Tuesday of each month in the evening to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the unsheltered homeless to be distributed by the outreach service, Operation Safety Net.
